I tried doing something similar not long ago, but came up with the same problem (typing something isn't enough). I went in the Solutions example and looked at how they did it. Basically from what I understand, you have to add your "new" value to the array, then you can use it. Tryed a little but I couldn't get it to work so I gave up and did something else.

Turns out the ComboBox isn't working as I thought it did.

Because I modified the ControlSource property to be that of the view I am working on, if I select something from the dropdown it gets written to the view. But if I type in an entry, it doesn't get written to the view. I was playing with requery in the lostfocus method and came up dry.
