Bruce,

>I don't know, UNIX is known as a real PITA around here, not because it crashes or is slow, but because it just doesn't co-exist with most OS and applications well...

Well, notice I didn't say that it should _be_ Unix *g*, just like it in some of its better features. (Is that policy-wonk enough? *BG*) I just like its stability *if it's set up and managed correctly*.

>I know that all too well, I do heavyweight multi-user statistical crunching on large data sets...it took us (me, anyway, with poor advice from LAN folks) about 8 years to finally figure out that we should be upgrading servers more often then locals (annually, at least), and picking up all the extra caching, memory, etc., while you're at it. It starts to rival UNIX at that point. That makes a huge difference in how well things function...

Righto. I currently have only one server doing multiple duty - SQL 7.0, Exchange 5.5 and the normal network stuff. However I *do* have 484MD and I figure that's what's saving my bacon plus the app I'm converting isn't a big number cruncher fortunately. Any statistical stuff I plan to do will (hopefully) be farmed to a second server.

Best,
Best,

DD
