IMHO, it depends on how you look at the application. Word and Excel are document centric applications. I hated the way they handled multiples documents in previous version, my fingers were always reaching for the ALT-TAB combinaison to switch from one document to another. I'm glad that they have made them SDI.

What is in reserve for future version of VFP, I don't know. But I think it will be a great idea of letting us decide if a form should have it's own instance in the task bar while keeping the advantages of MDI.

You can still flip back and forth between the documents via the Window menu. However, if you look at the Task Bar, you'll note that there's not one instance of Word or Excel, but two. In other words, they've become SDI apps.
