I've been using Codemine recently and I have been pretty impressed with it. I have not seen any issues with performance, its fast. Their support has been excellant, I have used both e-mail and phone support and have received rapid responses both ways. One thing I like a lot is the ability to customize or even ignore it. At install Codemine provides a complete set of their classes already sub-classed which you can change in any way you wish without any concern for updates over writing your changes. Also, I've dropped code and forms into this project that were previously constructed, without Codemine, and they work without change. I don't think that there is backend support, but I'd suggest you send an email to support@codemine.com to ask about that.
