Something that used to work in vfp 5. Now I'm using VFP6, SP3. What am I doing wrong?

I have a combo box on a form. The control source is an integer field in a table. The row source is set to value, with data entered by hand. I have 2 columns, and told it to use the second as the bound column.

Everything displays properly, and sems to work fine, however the actuall data stored is NOT what I specified in column 2 of the data list. Instead, it uses the listindex of the selected item. I don't get it.
