Here is an antique for you.

We have a set of databases running in FPD 2.0 under Novell 3.11. I have encountered a curious problem with 486 100 mhz, and pentium 100 mhz machines on the network.

With both internal and external cache enabled on these machines I OFTEN get corrupted memo fields when doing MODI STRUCT. Even more often I get corrupted memo files when doing MODI REPO, to the extent that it is unusable (every time I try to save I get INVALID MEMO FILE).

This happens on the local C: drive also - so actually the network has nothing to do with it ! If I turn off both the internal and external cache in CMOS - no problem, I can't get it to crash.

This also happens whether I am running out of DOS, or out of Windows 3.1 - so it doesn't have anything to do with the windows 32bit IDE drivers.

No problem using or saving files locally or on the network - we have a fair number of transactions going on. Running the machines without cache is not acceptable (try it some time !) they are slow as heck.
Anybody have any ideas on this one ?
