(Hang with me. I'm still a bit of a VFP newbie.)

Typically I bind the controls to a local table which is extracted from the DBC via a SQL SELECT statement. I update the DBC *and* the local table via SQL INSERT or SQL UPDATE within a transaction set.

That is what I had in mind though I wasn't sure if it was cool.
