Surely the point is not only to make fast, efficient code, but to make code that is easy to understand, and therefore supportable by others, and indeed yourself at a later date !

The over complication of solutions seems to be very popular amongst programmers........

Not that this point is really related, but it's always amusing that programmers spend so much time and effort writing 'nice-to-have but not essential' code.
