I know that VFP can handle the project. What I am more interested in finding is a site that relies primarily on data entry. The applications they want to convert are used to collect data in a fashion similar to a spreadsheet where ther will be lots of rows and columns. There will also be a number of validations done on the data (some real-time).

Their major concerns are the response time during data entry, and the stability of VFP running on a web server. My major concern is that I have never done any development like this and am looking for examples of how it can work. I have been using dBase/FoxBase/FoxPro for 14 years and know what I can do with it in a typical pc based world, but I am starting from ground zero with running something like this over the internet. I really wish this had come up a little sooner as I might have been able to go to the Double Impact event Rick and Marcus are doing in Vegas, but that is impossible at this time.

Thanks,
Mark

>Hi Mark. Here is a faq that I wrote on the subject.

>1) The eurotunnel project used 128 GB data, 24 hours/day (http://www.paltielinc.com/vfp1.html) (this is not VFP but FPD)

>"Maximum # of records per table file 1 billion
>Maximum size of a table file 2 gigabytes
>Maximum # of characters per record 65,500
>Maximum # of fields per record(1) 255
>Maximum # of tables open at one time(2) 255
>Maximum # of characters per table field 254
>Maximum # of open index files per table(2) unlimited
>Maximum # of open indexes in all work areas(2) unlimited
>Maximum # of relations unlimited"

>>I have a client that wants to convert a number of their distributed FPD26 apps to run over the web. I am proposing using VFP. They are a bit leary of how the app would respond and have asked me to find some site(s) that use VFP over the web for data entry processes.

>>Does anyone know of any that I can point them to? I know that this site and Surplus Direct use VFP, but they are not really data entry oriented.

>>I would really love the chance to try to write a web based VFP app, but unless I can prove it works, they won't go for it.

>>Thanks.
