There was a really great comic in our paper today:
Couple watching the news (TV says it will be so terrible) before the storm "WHAT are we gonna do to PREPARE?"
Same couple after the storm, surrounded with batteries, propane, generator, tarp, canned food, tarp: "WHAT are we gonna do with all this STUFF?"
My husband over-prepares (try going camping with him) and I under-prepare. Most of the time we end up with too much *stuff* and watch TV of all the people who really had it bad.
Has a lot to do with being just far enough inland to be safe, yet close enough to go to the beach for weekends and vacations.
>>My husband bought a lot of supplies including SPAM (oh, was really canned corned beef) which we didn't need. He tends to buy too much. I'm going to make *him* eat the spam (oops, canned corned beef.)

>LOL, yeah I'd make him eat the Spam.
