>>>I've done considerable fox development on LAN applications use ODBC and open client. I've never done any internet development and would like to mess with it a bit. I'd like to use some views and update small data sets. I'm curious, if I have a DSN from my ISP can I use a normal VFP app on my PC treat the internet DSN as though it were a network drive or do you HAVE to use a browser with html/asp etc.

>>Go to: http://www.west-wind.com/wwthreads and click on the search button (the binoculars). Search the "FoxPro Programming" forum for "ODBC". You should see a thread called "How does VFP ODBC use TCP ports?". It has some background on what you're asking.

>Thanks but it doesn't really answer my question. I want to use a dialup connection like a LAN. Install a client (non-web) on any PC and using a DSN on a web server, connect to a remote DB.

Sounds like you want a VPN (Virtual Private Network). This will enable you to make a RAS connection to a remote server through your ISP.
