I trying to find a way to retrieve the short form (8.3) for a specified file or a path, e.g.: Returns "c:\Progra~1\Testfi~1" for the file "c:\Program Files\Test File.txt".

I checked out the Microsoft site and found a function in the Windows SDK called "Interrupt 21h function 7160h Minor Code 1h" which does just that. There must be a way for VFP to access this through the windows API.

Anyone have any ideas? The foxtools function VALIDPATH() does not work in Windows95/98.
