>Unders the Drivers tab, of ODBC icon on the control panel I have 3 FoxPro drivers: FoxPro Drivers (*.dbf) version 4.003711.08, FoxPro VFP Drivers (*.dbf) version 6.008428.00, and Visual FoxPro Drivers version 6.008428.00. Word does not recognize Foxpro tables (*.dbf) as a valid data source for mail merge. My mailmerge use to work fine but something has happened (I know that I installed Visual SP3). How do I remove VFP drivers and reinstall? Or more specifically, any ideas on how I can get word to recognize *.dbf. I tried removing and adding components of Word, but it will not let my remove the ODBC drivers.

Hi Brenda,
This is the popular question in last few weeks :) Simply forget about using Foxpro dbf driver. It's now XODBC (eXcluding Fox :-). After some registry corrections you could make it work today but not tomorrow or at client site. New MDAC made an upgrade ! <g> and excluded Foxpro drivers. You could use dBase driver instead but unfortunately as long as your free tables have no memo fields. Instead there is a workaround solution :) Use no ODBC. Any doc configured as a table could be a mailmerge datasource in word. So logic is :
-Copy data to a doc
-Convert to table
-Save
-Add a new doc or template based
-Set saved doc as a datasource
Or :
Copy to a tab delimited, CSV file and use that as a datasource (more problematic to my tests).
For code example check Thread titled "VFP and Word" on 24th Aug, 1999.
(.EditMainDocument is not needed in that code)
