If you are running a TCP/IP network and change the server name, in the ODBC DSN connection properites, to the actual server IP address, you should see a significant improvement in application performance. Apparently, if you use the computer/server name, the ODBC has to search the network every time for the server. Using the IP address directs the ODBC directly to the server.
