>>Had Mailmerge working. Now it can not find my data source with I try to open the mailmerge.doc file. My datasource is there but it is a foxtable.dbf and that seems to be the problem. I may have installed a service pack for office that wiped out the select odbc driver, but really do not remember. How can I tell if the VFP ODBC driver is loaded in Word? I have tried creating a new test mailmerge doc and .dbf is not one of the available data sources.

>The problem is with the latest data access pack from Microsoft. Once applied you don't get DBF files as an option for a merge in Word. I do not know any fix for now. If you're in a hurry I can offer you a bad kludge. Copy your DBF to TYPE XLS. And since Word still recognizes an XLS file, you'll be able to merge.

An update. There's a new version of MSDAC 2.1 (known as SP2) at microsoft.com/data.
Once installed on my machine I stil got the limitation in Word (selecting a VFP DBF leads you to an ISAM errror), but if you go through MS Query, the VFP ODBC driver will let you open 2.6 tables.
