>Ah, yes, the problem with NT. I cannot find anything equivalent on standard NT versions to do defrag/scandisk. I realize it uses a different system (NTFS), but there still ought to be a way to diagnose file problems & clean up disks without having to purchase a 3rd party product. Am I missing something?

Hi Bruce,

NT comes with CheckDisk. Fire up the disk administrator, select the drive, right-click -> Properties, then click the Tools tab, and hit the error checking button. I don't know if that would have fixed Eric's problem but its there.

About a dog, who found two bone.
He lick the one, he lick the other.
He went pyscho, he drop dead!
