Yo FP,
You may simply need to make your field wide enough to accomodate the maximum width of the letter (I assume you meant, like a letter to Mom and not the letter "A").
In addition, make sure you bring up the field expression options dialog box and select "Top -- field can stretch" in the box that says "Position Relative to -".
