I'll agree with others that it depends on the market you're aiming for. I do have friends who are still on 640x480. However, I would add that at some point in time, technology must move on...In the same way DOS is dying and as been replaced by Windows, 640x480 should be looking towards a near death experience and give way to 800x600 as a minimum.
