VB is a general purpose programming langage. It doesn't work well with data and doesn't support inheritence. IMHO, it is good for building specialized COM objects that does use data.
VFP is a database product at heart. It knows how to work with data and is the fastest database engine on Earth. It support OOP better than VB but less than C++.
The real answer here: use the best tool suited to the job at hand. It is not uncommon to have a mix of different tools in the same project.
