I have been using VFP since it came out as my main tool. I use VB here and there for things that VFP can't do as well. I am also writing the VB6 certification test this fall.

My experience with VB has been very positive, but VB is not as productive for creating database apps as VFP is. The lack of full OOP compounds this.

My opinions
- VFP is the Visual Studio tool that is fastest and easiest to build database apps with. Why? The focus is data. Every command, control and feature of the language is built with data in mind. VB is general purpose tool, and data is just one of the many things it can work with. VB requires more work to accomplish the same job as VB (for data). The idea with Visual Studio is the right tool for the job.
- VB has a huge developer base which means that a lot of ActiveX controls work well with it and there are tons of 3rd party tools

VFP - data, OOP
VC++ - low level control of Windows and computer. Fast executables. More difficult to learn. OOP
VB - does a bit of everything. Made to be easy to learn. Not fully OOP. The "easy to use" nature of VB sometimes gets in the way when you are trying to do something sophisticated.
