Hi,

the strange behaviour occurs if you leave the mouse pointer
on the area where the list opens. In this case the item selected
is the wrong one (that of the mouse pointer position) and any
key closes the list - the original value keeps untouched.

Move the mouse pointer to one of the screen corners and everything works well.

Unfortunately there is no proper way to move the mouse pointer
automatically e.g. on the arrow button of the control. The MOUSE
command allows only relative positioning to the current window.

I've experimented around, but cannot determine what gets the combo into this state. When it is, I can still use the mouse to select a list element or run the slider.

I can be working on a form and have the misbehvior occur...move to some other field...then come back to the combo and sometimes then the combo will open cleanly with alt/downarrow and sometimes it won't. I may in fact be using (or abusing) some property or method in a fashion not intended by the designer of the combo baseclass, but I'm pretty sure the problem is being manifested in some hidden state variable.
