>two years ago I was updating an app that was originally written in FoxPro 1. and moving it to FoxPro for Windows 2.6. I couldn't open the report forms directly into 2.6, I had to open them in FP DOS 2.5 [or perhaps earlier?] first.

The fp1.0x frx files were actually tab delimited. You should run the old transprt.prg from 2.5 or such to convert them to 2.5 or 2.6 format (with the .fpt). They also had a .frv optional file, which stored the environment info. Easiest way is to open them in 2.6 and have them converted. I think even reading the comments in the contemporary transprt.prg leads to this.
