I wrote a Visual FoxPro Document Imaging application. I scan, save, print and fax 8.5" x 11" document images at 100dpi right out of FoxPro. I use Lead Technologies' Lead Tools ActiveX (OCX) V9.0 software inside my VFP to do the actual Twain scan, save, print. I use another 3rd party VPF add-on to do the faxing.
Everything was working great until I changed scanners. Leaving everything else the same in the software, the new HP ScanJet 6270A flatbed scanner puts out unacceptable, unreadable, unlegible documents at 100dpi. Put the old Mustek MSP-12000SP in its spot and everything is acceptable, readable and legible without touching the working software.
I talked to both HP and Lead Technologies tech support. HP says it's not their problem. But I have researched the problem on the HP User Support Forum and found everyone with that scanner to have the same problem. Many were returning their new HP scanners and going back to their old scanners. I think the problem is with any non-HP scanning software, Twain or otherwise, that can't handle the new HP Intelligent Scanning Technology hardware. If I scan using the HP software that came with the scanner 100dpi works fine.
Have any of you had this problem with the 6200 series of HP scanners and gone back to your old scanners for certain applications?
Thanks for your inputs.
