That sounds like a logical explanation. Since I put this msg out this morning I heard from Lead Technologies tech support. They told me to scan the image on the HP as I am currently doing, but after I do the Twain Acquire command to run a Lead Tools command called ColorRes that forces the image to 1-bit and No Dithering. I'll have to try that, but I will be surprised if that helps. I think I already tried something along those lines, but maybe not. I have tried so many things, I almost need to walk away from it for awhile and come back with a fresh mind.
