Thank you for your replies.

I found a workaround which is to create a dummy table with a trigger.
The client updates the table which runs the trigger procedure.
I also found that the VFP ODBC driver has a lot of limitations.
For example, it does not support APPEND FROM ... DELIMITED command.
I am going to try to build an OLE Server with VFP.
