Keep me posted of your findings, it's always interesting. I forgot to mention that on the Spanish part of my Download page there's an example of implementation that takes the implementation of code dataenv completely out of Codebook. (the first file in the list).
And about the é, it comes direct from my AZERTY keyboard. Should be ALT+130 on yours... When CompuServe was only low ASCII I used to sign Jose'.
