aselobj( lax, 1 ) && get reference to form in the designer
do while .t.
lax[1].addobject( 'a'+sys(8), "commandbutton" ) && add objects to it
endo

I used this code and it stalled it around 9000 buttons, didn't error though. When I saved the form it was only 1 meg though (pretty far from the 2gig limit)

At runtime it stalled at about 44,000 objects

Just thought I'd let you know.
