Sorry it took so long to reply Barbara, I have been knee deep the last few weeks. I found the InGrid component (free) from Classy Components fit the bill.
Just setup a grid, put it on as the currentcontrol on the appropriate columns, and off you go. My clients love it. I modified it to allow me to set the _DblClick from a property ( I normally set it to 5.0). I use GotFocus/LostFocus to set it and reset it. My next project will be to requerry with a new sort as the user goes from one column to another. I LOVE this component!
