I'm not quite sure I know what you mean by "fewer available hours to work." But, what if you didn't want to? Will you be forced? Personally, I think the way things work right now are just fine. If I don't want to work, that's OK, I just won't get paid. If I don't get paid I can't pay for my house, food, etc. Pretty good motivation to work. If I work, I can go into just about anything I'd like. If I really suck at it, chances are I won't be doing it for long since most people will stop paying me. Like I said before, even if you were to get rid of "money", things still have value and they still need to be paid for. Money, as it is today, just happens to work well.
