Every Friday (well, most) I see this note that "today's conference. . .".

HOW does one 'get into' the conference?

Do these conferences focus on specific issues? If so, where does one learn of the topic for a day's discussion?

NOTE: I am an Internet KLUTZ, so I have no idea what "IRC 205.205.57.3 PORT 6667" means or how I would use that information.
