It's just a minor point. I had similar problems with file openings in long night batch program which can open many tables. So, I trapped the error (ON ERROR worked here) and just issued RETRY every 5 min. inside error routine until system gets through or morning coming. Basically, it resolved the problem (from business standpoint at least).
