I've finally got it! The system DSN I was using was configured to Microsoft Foxpro Driver (*.dbf). I changed the DSN driver to Microsoft Visual Foxpro Driver and now the query: "select * from kdata where k_date >= '{09/01/1999}'"
works fine. However, I think the old Foxpro Driver (*.dbf) should have worked.
