Thanks for the reply.
I can see that you are familiar with the problem.

With Foxpro 2.5b it does not want to let me Collate to "General".
Config.fp contain CODEPAGE=AUTO
But if I try SET COLLATE TO "GENERAL" I got the error "Collating sequence 'General' not found" although it is a valid option mentionned in the Help.

So I took a chance and changed the involved index (Part.nom) with VFP5.
I can see with VFP5 that the sorting is now ok.

So it worked but... when I went back to DOS, I just cannot open the modified file.
The command "USE PART" gives the error "File not Open".

Why is that?

Also, do I have to change the CODEPAGE also...in the file?
