I just wanted to let you know that I tried it and I got the same results as John. So his suggestions seem like good ones. There has to be another reason for this.

Try this, create a new form based on the vfp base form not one from your class. put your two textboxes on this new form making sure to use out of the box textboxes, not anything from your classes. And see if you can recreate the problem. I suspect you won't.
