I assume Win95...

In 1 & 2 is this where Exchange is looking to dial out? The long wait in 2 may be caused because you have no connection or Exchange does not see it.

In my Control Panel/Internet Mail settings in the Internet Mail selection Properties under the Connection Tab I have 'connect using a modem' & of course the info needed for that connection. This should auto dial when you send a message.

In the General Tab under Message format is where you will find the MIME check box.

In 3 I use MIME file format. It insets the file as an icon.
