I couldn't have said it much better myself. Harry, a great example of this is DBCX2... which is a free data dictionary utility written in and for VFP. It does what we speak about by opening it's tables in a PDS (an invisible form actually) and once you instantiate it you have access the the info in the data dictionary by asking the DBCXMgr class for that info.

You can download DBCX2 from www.stonefield.com... as I said, it is free and public domain.
