Scott,
In another reply in this thread you said that your allegiance is to Microsoft and $$$. In my humble opinion an "allegiance" to *any* company - at least when it's not for the company you work for, and that is even highly questionable these days - is mis-placed. Do you think that MS has even a shred of "allegiance" to you???? They don't!
Below we get the real truth - you need to justify expanding your knowledge and you have come up with a bunch of hoooey to do so. No need to disparage VFP in order to move yourself along. Just go ahead and do it. Especially when your 'reasoning' is so flawed to start with.
My opinion, though, is that it is very difficult indeed to become expert in more than one programming language at a time. So if you want to learn VB (SQL Server isn't really a 'language') I believe that you would be wiser to leave VFP behind so that you can throw yourself wholeheartedly into VB. There is just no need at all to bad-mouth VFP so that you can feel comfortable with yourself for doing so.
Cheers,
Jim N

>The issues about VFP's team touting VFP and the upcoming VFP exams, is good for us VFP developers. I'm not shunning VFP, but neither am I ignoring other technologies. That's the basis for my decision to expand into other languages: To learn new technologies and remain marketable as MSFT makes changes to their product line and businesses adjust accordingly.
