I also had problems with Java Script on the web through our firewall. It was a bit frustrating because it would work fine on one computer, but not on the rest of the workstations in the office.
What I ended up doing was creating a tunnel in the firewall. This fixed the problem. (Kind of defeats the purpose of a firewall, but the boss wanted to '... see the little scrollie boxes...' on our web page.
