Yes, you are correct - I misunderstood Kam Lee's original question.

It doesn't seem that it would be that big of a deal for MS to support this feature. However, my question is to what extent it would be beneficial when there are other ways of accomplishing the same thing.

With the exception of delete, insert, and update triggers I like to handle all the business rules at the cursor level (or middle tier). I would think that this approach makes it easier to swap backends, although I have not had the opportunity to do so yet.

My question is what are the benefits of directly calling stored procs?
