Don't know if it will resolve your problem, but have you installed Visual Studio 97 Service Pack #3?

OTOH, a combobox with more than 100-500 items is, IMHO, useless from the start. Other than being slow, I can't imagine scrolling through that list to search an item.

Create new form with a combobox and tie the combobox to the new table with RowSource type of the comobox set to 2 (alias). Run the form and select item #1789.
