I would think if an Employer was looking for a Developer for a Client Server or n-Tier project and 2 MCPs walked in, if one was Desktop and one was Ditributed, the distributed would show the employer that he knows about C/S and n-Tier.

While this isn't a fair and perfect example, thats the jist of it. I feel Distibuted is generally thought of as harder, because it contains everything in the Desktop, plus these newer technologies.
