There are many good books for people new to SQL Server. The problem will be finding one that address DTS in the detail that you'll need. Once you get you head wet (meaning much more that you feet) you'll probably want to look at Inside SQL Server 7.0 by Kalen Delaney. SQL Server Mag. is an excellent resource. You should also look at all the whitepapers available on the MS website.

It is true that DTS could solve this problem. But since you have strength in VFP, why not let VFP do the sync using SPT.
