Hi Eugene.

>> OK - I've now spend another day changing our combobox into a textbox with a button beside it and a listbox below it that only appears when the button is pressed - IT LOOKS AN WORKS LIKE OUR OLD COMBOBOX!!!!! EXACTLY!!!! This bug is not only in the combobox, but it also exists in the ListBox!! NICE!! <<

Please forgive me if I appear to be unsympathetic, but is there some reason that you have insisted upon trying to reinvent the wheel? I referred you to the comboGrid article in FoxTalk July 1999. It came complete with source code. Did you look at it? Or, if you do not have that issue of FoxTalk, the control is available for download from Library 3 of Compuserve's VFox forum.

>> I'm the biggest supporter of VFP, but I feel I'm getting ambushed by VFP and everyone else. Why haven't they fixed this? How long have they known this problem existed?? I told my manager that I didn't want to go to 6.0 until all the bugs had been worked out, little did I know that they hadn't worked out all the bugs in 5.0!! This is a little disturbing. <<

All languages have their quirks. Complaining because things do not work the way that you expect them to is counterproductive, to say the least. Don't you think that trying to learn WHY they work the way they do is going to increase your expertise as a developer?

>> I'm now trying to do the same thing with a grid!! <<

For the third time, check out the ComboGrid. Unless you are enjoying trying to reinvent the wheel (which, if you'll pardon me for saying so, it doesn't)

Personally, I feel so fortunate to be a part of such a generous developer community. So many share their time, knowledge, and expertise so that I don't have to do everything by myself from soup to nuts. The files section here and the libraries on Compuserve are full of examples. Have you looked at any of them?

I don't know if you just needed to vent your frustration, but you DID send me this response (even though it was not addressed to me). The tone you took happens to be one of my pet peeves, so please forgive me for getting off on a rant.

Marcia
