>Mark, you're a genius! I set the fetchsize and maxrecords to -1 and the problem went away. As near as I can figure (and I don't know if i'm going to explain this right), even though I was using the connection synchronously, by telling it to grab 100 records at a time (which must be the default) translates into some type of loop behind Foxpro. In otherwords, my one little use was being translated into 25 little use statements behind the scenes. And when the first one was done, the system was trying to be polite and letting me start to work with the first 100. At least that's how it seemed.

There is not much you can do about the wait state because VFP is no longer in control. I have an animated revolving globe cursor that sometimes I change my mouse cursor to when I do stuff like this.
