Ok, create an empty database and gave myself all rights (I log on to the server using PCA with full admin rights, test using a seperate client running VFP). I set the size of the database and log file and set file growth to 10 percent and checked unrestricted file growth. Then I tried an Import from SQL server rather than an upsize from VFP. It bombs with a message:

Invalid character value for cast specification

I'm assuming this means there is some type casting problem with the field mappings, but the error doesn't give me enough detail.

I'll try the VFP Upsize again now with the new database. Thanks for the tip about checking rights.
