> does anyone know whether there are any restrictions/problems running VFP over a NOVELL vs WIN NT network???

Chris, make sure you use the 3.1 version of the Novell Client. The MS Client for Netware is reliable but doesn't play well with NDS.

I'm not sure if this problem is related to Netware but we cleared up a lot of problems by replacing all HP printer drivers with the Laserjet III driver (which is ages old.) You can still keep the later drivers (Laserjet 6, etc.) on the workstation for use with Word etc.; just make sure they are not selected for use with VFP.

I've also heard that Windows NT workstation is more reliable both with the Novell servers and with NT servers. If you can spec that I think you will be happier down the line.

We have one NT workstation now (in fact I'm working on it right now) and I like what I see so far. This WS doesn't get much use with my VFP app so I can't make any claims for reliability at this point.

I've done some testing with an Access app that I wrote which quickly runs out of memory with Win 98 and is solid with NT workstation. Looking at memory usage shows that when NT fires up the Access app it leaves 32MB out of 64MB free and the free memory actually rises slightly as the app is exercised. Win 98 OTOH leaves only about 6MB free and then chews that up.
