>Thanks for the follow-up. There are at least three different exceptions returned even though the same sequence of events occurs prior to the error.

The most likely causes are (1) a different version of Excel, with a different object model and CLSID and possibly ProgID is installed on the laptop, or (2) the registry is badly frobbed. I'd start by checking to make sure that all systems have exactly the same version of Excel on them.
