I know that, you know that, but how could anybody new know that? The MVP is a great attention getter for the UT, having them around constantly is saying:

Microsoft has personally verifed that this individual is extremely knowlegable and very willing to help you

Otherwise, the new user might think, who are these weirdos and are they any good at what the do, then maybe ditch the UT for an MS newsgroup or something of the sort.
