>I fully understand the reaction. You and a large number of individuals; whether MVP's or not, have been a great resource to many. To receive this recognition is a way that the developer community can show their gratitude and respect for your efforts. Maybe this program should not have been under MS control in the first place, but under the wings of the development community itself. I can only hope that MS "hears" the reaction to this decision and that they come to their senses and do the right thing.

>And talk about a crappy excuse. Money? - Going to invest in the newsgroup support. Give me a break. First off, I hate the newsgroup interface. Second, I would trust the MVP's knowledge base over the group MS will hire to provide this support any day of the week. We don't need help from in-experienced individuals looking at reference material for answers. We need the knowledge, wisdom and experience of developers who design and implement applications.

>And just how much profit is enough? I saw the MS earnings reported. What could supporting the MVP program actually cost? For MS, I would say much less than a "drop in the bucket". The support they are planning to invest in will be nowhere close to what they get from the MVP's today for FREE. Is there not enough money to add the support they want and keep the MVP program? There is probably an "untold" reason for this decision, if not then someone needs to take my big red inkpad and my big "DUH" stamp up to Redmond and visit a few managers.

Mike,

Well, please send your comments to...:-) Just kidding.

However, if you noted the article at the ZD site (in Nancy's post), there is the chance for any who wish to, to add their comments. It's my feeling that the more non-MVPs that express displeasure with this decision, the greater the impact. That, of course, is just my take.

Thanks for the kind words. Believe me, however, the folks here at the UT have given me more than I have given them.

Regards,
George
