I know DDE has been round a bit, but still it provided a quick solution in a time of need...

I needed to tell Acrobat reader to open and print documents. All worked well until McAfee Anti-Virus has been installed. After e-mail has been received - the program stops cold with the DDEInitiate statement.

OK, so I worked round that problem and only pass the parameter to the reader. Works fine...

Problem? Visual FoxPro setup now hangs after an e-mail has been received!

This is Version 3.0b (old I know) but still does the job with some Creeking and groaning (from me that is). I presume that the setup is attempting to DDE with the Shell to look at the current program groups and items.

My questions:
1. Why would an e-mail scanner stop DDE once e-mail has been received?
2. How could you stop it happening?
3. Does VFP5/6 setup still use DDE?
4. Am I going mad?
